A retrospective show featuring the lifetime work of dearly departed Mrs Colleen Shaliapin was held in the art gallery space opposite the Colosseo. The show titled “Escaping into the Open” was officially opened by Greg Frawley on Friday 16th February. Other speakers included Lorraine Maggs and Martin Shaliapin. The show featured works held in private and public collections.
Colleen’s show is scheduled to close Sunday 20th May and will be followed by the 51st Annual Members Prize Exhibition. This is a competitive exhibition open to all members of Club Marconi and the Fairfield City Art Society. It features a $2,000 acquisitive prize for a work considered best-in-show in the traditional / realistic section. This is a magnificent prize sponsored by the Club as the Presidents Acquisitive Prize. The winning artist will be declared Club Art Champion and will receive a commemorative plaque at the annual sports & culture dinner held later on in the year.
We strongly encourage all members to participate in this art show. Entry forms are available on the FCAS website or on the entry date.
Association member Raymond Atkins held an exhibition titled “Reflections” at Gallery one88 located at 188 Katoomba Street, Katoomba. The exhibition ran from the 10th to the 22nd of April and featured a wonderful collection of works in watercolour, linocuts and oil on canvas. The exhibition displayed a diverse range of talent from the Member of our Association.

Adults are also invited to bring in their own projects for some guidance. At the end of each term, we will celebrate all of our hard work with a party class!
